Paper Conservator
Tate

Part time, permanent

Millbank and Tate Store, London
Closing date: 28 June 2010

We are seeking an experienced conservator to work within our Paper
Conservation team, providing first-class conservation support and
expertise across all four Tate sites and programmes. Day-to-day,
you'll concentrate on assessing, preparing and treating works of art
within the Collection for display, exhibition and loan, sharing your
specialist knowledge throughout Tate and beyond. We'll also expect
you to keep up-to-date with the latest conservation techniques,
ensuring Tate are at the forefront of setting international
standards within Collection Care. It's a challenging and varied role
which will also include the responsibility of overseeing and
supporting the development of junior staff.

You will hold a recognised qualification in paper conservation with
demonstrable practical experience. Essential to have analytical
and problem-solving skills, organizational, time-management and
planning skills, and to be effective communicator. You will need to
be able to work independently on conservation treatments and provide
specialist advice for storage, transport and installation of works
of art. Good end-use IT skills will also be necessary with
flexibility around working hours and related travel.

Tate's Collection comprises some 67,000 works of British art from
the 16th century to the present day, international modern and
contemporary art. Our Collection Care Division is responsible for
ensuring this vast resource is readily accessible and available for
all four Tate galleries--now and in the future--through excellence
and innovation in care, while preventing damage and deterioration of
both nationally respected and internationally renowned pieces.
