Archeological objects and crude oil

I am seeking information from conservators who may have had
experience with archeological objects exposed to crude oil.  In
particular, I am looking for advice and/or references on
decontamination and storage of archeological materials exposed to
crude oil.  These materials may include shell, bone, ceramics,
textiles, metal and glass.  How do we segregate artifacts from other
collections?  How do we stabilize collections?  What types of
cleaning/decontamination treatments are acceptable?
