Archive Conservation Assistant Position at Flintshire Record Office Wales Salary: UKP15,725 - UKP16,830 Salary Grade / Scale: SCALE 3 Spinal Point: 14-17 This is a temporary position for 40 weeks. The salary and grade of this post are subject to Job Evaluation. Welsh: No Requirement Flintshire Record Office is looking for a conservation assistant to undertake work on its collection of quarter sessions rolls, for a period of 40 weeks. You will have the opportunity to implement the conservation of paper, parchment and seals; to identify and assess degradation factors, interpret results and make judgements on the use of scientific processes, chemical treatments and intricate practical conservation techniques to improve the longevity and subsequent storage of archives. You will be educated to A-level standard to include at least a GCSE in a science subject. In addition you will have good inter-personal skills, initiative and motivation to work flexibly as part of a team or individually without constant supervision; keen attention to detail and an appreciation of the importance of diligence and accuracy in the work undertaken. You will also need the ability to handle (with assistance/appliances as appropriate) large, heavy and fragile documents, materials and equipment.
