ICON Science Group Annual Meeting

The Icon Science Group AGM will be held on Thursday 24 June 2010 at
CSI: Sittingbourne

Anglo-Saxon CSI: Sittingbourne is an investigative conservation lab
working on finds from an Anglo-Saxon cemetery site from
Sittingbourne, Kent.  It is a unique community led, public heritage
conservation project.  It allows public access to the conservation
techniques involved in treating objects from an archaeological dig.
It was set up by Dana Goodburn-Brown, a local conservator and member
of the Science Group committee, and is an exemplar of public
engagement with conservation and heritage science.  See

CSI:Sittingbourne is located in the Forum shopping centre at ME10
3DL, close to Sittingbourne station.  Trains to Sittingbourne leave
from Victoria at 22 and 52 minutes past the hour, and from St
Pancras at 25 and 55 minutes past the hour.

The formal business will start at 2pm, and you are cordially invited
to visit CSI beforehand to see the working lab and the exhibition
area. Following the meeting there will be ample opportunity to
partake of excellent Kentish ales.

As well as an update on present and future activities of the Science
Group, there will be an opportunity for discussion on what makes for
successful practical outreach to the public, and on green issues in
conservation, particularly the current review of environmental
standards.
