Permanent position, full time (37 h/w).

Salary dependent upon qualifications. Minimum salary (for recent
graduate):

DDK 293.701 p.a.
(Euro 39.466 p.a.)

The Conservation Centre Vejle is an independent institution and
connected to the Shared Storage Facility which stores collections
from 16 museums and archives. Both buildings were built in 2004 and
the conservation workshop offers modern facilities.

The Conservation Centre primarily undertakes conservation for 7
regional museums with mixed collections and employs 8 conservators
specialised in textile, objects, paper, paintings and sculptures and
archaeological conservation as well as additional staff on fixed
term projects.

We are seeking a replacement for our current textile conservator.
You will take over the responsibility for textile conservation at
the Conservation Centre. You have a degree from a recognised textile
conservation training programme and practical experience. We are
looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual, who can work
independently and to deadlines, is keen on developing existing
skills and knowledge as well as acquiring new ones.

It is essential that you are interested in working with a range of
different museum professionals, and  you must therefore possess
strong interpersonal and organisational skills in addition to good
oral and written communication skills (either a Nordic language or
fluent in English). Responsibilities include practical conservation
treatments, examination and condition reports, digital photo and
written documentation on a range of textile based objects.
Preparation of objects for exhibitions, packing, transport,
including designing and making mounts. Taking part in general
conservation activities and preventive conservation such as
environmental monitoring, climate and collection surveys and
rehousing, developing and running workshops for other museum
professionals. Writing cost estimates for private customers. Your
work mainly takes place at the Conservation Centre's workshop, but
you will also work on location at the museums or off-sites with
private customers.
