Conservation Technician

    Fallon and Wilkinson LLC is seeking a full-time Conservation
    Technician to join their staff for an 18 month Contract
    Appointment, with the possibility for extension. The firm
    specializes in the conservation and restoration of wooden
    furniture, interior woodwork, wooden artifacts and the
    reproduction of furniture for museums, historic houses and
    private clients.

    The successful candidate must be highly motivated, have
    excellent woodworking and hand skills, and be able to work
    independently or with a team of conservators. We are looking for
    someone who is observant, sensitive, patient, who communicates
    easily and has the desire to be a valued team member.

    The candidate will assist with the treatment of American,
    European, and Asian furniture from various time periods with
    multiple surface decoration techniques under the direction of a
    Principle Conservator. Occasional travel may be required. In
    addition, the candidate should have sound organizational skills,
    including written documentation and digital photography.

    The preferred candidate will have a college degree in a relevant
    field of study, or equivalent work experience, and a minimum of
    five years in the field.

    Salary and Benefits package will be commensurate with the
    abilities of the successful candidate.

    This Position will remain open until filled, and is effective
    immediately.

Period Furniture Maker

    Fallon and Wilkinson LLC is seeking a full-time period furniture
    maker for a unique opportunity to work on the reproduction of
    multiple pieces and forms of Federal furniture for a National
    Historic Landmark for the duration of a year and a half, starting
    this summer.

    Qualifications:

        Ability to construct high-end Federal furniture from
        detailed drawings and photographs

        Proficient in the use of all tools to include hand and power
        tools, including tablesaw, band saw, and router with a heavy
        emphasis on hand tool and period construction methods

        Capable of working independently as well as under direct
        supervision

        Experience in carving and inlay work a must, specifically
        the carving of French Louis XVI furniture and bell-flower
        inlay work

        Aware of general safety while working with machines and hand
        tools

        Highly motivated, energetic furniture maker

        Work will generally be conducted 9.00am-5.00pm
        Monday-Friday, but a willingness to work on weekends and
        evenings to meet deadlines is desirable.

    This contract position is for the duration of 18 months 1-1-2
    year) with the possibility of extension and crossover work to
    furniture conservation. A trial period of one month will be in
    effect.

Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience.
