Effect of conservation treatments on scientific research

I am a student of Conservation and I have to present a paper on
conservation and stabilization substances and techniques that
constrain scientific research like dating and material
identification. Unfortunately, I could not find information on this
topic and I would like to ask if anyone has or had this problem
while working on any kind of cultural heritage or if there is a
source of information or publication that I missed. I am grateful
for every hint, title or anecdote.
