Your painting is probably by the painter Adolphe Alcan, I have found only one reference for him in auctions (a crucifixion sold in America in 1999) but I also found the following stuff about his work on http//mapage.noos.fr/shv2/nouvelle-paroisse.htm "Au debut de l'annee 1866, a l'instigation de l'ecrivain Galoppe d'Onquaire, l'Empereur fera don a l'eglise du Vesinet d'une serie de tableaux a l'huile, constituant un "Chemin de Croix", executes dans les ateliers de la maison Alcan. Ce Chemin de Croix par le peintre parisien Alcan, fut offert par Napoleon III entre 1864 et 1869 a plusieurs paroisses, dans toute la France. Par la suite, Alcan se fit une specialite dans l'edition de Chemins de Croix sous forme de peintures copiees d'apres Victor-Casimir Zier (peintre hongrois) ou de lithographies de Leon Mauduison s'en inspirant."
