IIC discussion transcript Conservation in Crisis published

From: Graham Voce <iic<-at->
Date: Wednesday, April 7, 2010
The edited transcript of the discussion between Anna Somers Cocks,
Founder and Editorial Director of The Art Newspaper and Samuel Jones
of DEMOS and co-author of It's A Material World: Caring for the
Public Realm, on the looming crisis in the field of conservation is
now available on the IIC web site. Visit

and read why IIC wanted to step back a bit at this event and look at
the field of heritage conservation in a more generalised way to
explore why the profession appears to be especially susceptible to
cutbacks and budget reductions during times of economic downturn.
Are we too insular? Have we made too little effort to reach out to
other stakeholders in heritage? have we have been unwilling to
involve others in our decision making? What can we do to gain more
visibility and support?
