Level and Salary: Specified Callings Level 2, $75,392 to
$83,835 per annum

The Art Gallery of Western Australia, founded in 1895, occupies a
precinct of three heritage buildings on the south-eastern corner of
the Perth Cultural Centre. The Gallery houses the State Art
Collection, which includes one of the world's finest collections of
Indigenous art, the pre-eminent collection of Western Australian art
and design, as well as Australian and International art and design.

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Conservator
to join the Art Gallery of Western Australia's Curatorial Team.

A current National Police Certificate will be required prior to
commencement of employment, as per the Department of Culture and the
Arts Screening Policy.

Job Description: Plan and implement the Gallery's program of
research, conservation and treatment of works of art to expand
Collection knowledge; implement new conservation initiatives; and
maintain and build the profile of the State Art Collection locally
and internationally.

You are the person for this position if you:

    *   are a self-motivated individual with a 'hands on' approach
        to leadership in conservation research and the delivery of
        collection care.

    *   excel at planning and implementing programs of research,
        conservation and treatment of works of art in the context of
        a State Art Gallery.

    *   thrive on the challenges of implementing new conservation
        initiatives and building the profile of the State Art
        Collection locally and internationally.

    *   have a tertiary qualification in the conservation of
        cultural materials with a specialty in Paper, Painting or
        Objects conservation.

    *   have demonstrated extensive practical experience of
        conservation analysis, treatment and the preservation
        requirements for cultural objects with a proven ability to
        adapt standard techniques and practices to facilitate new
        treatments and procedures.

    *   have high level communication and interpersonal skills to
        maintain effective, cooperative working relationships within
        the section and on cross-gallery project groups.
