English Heritage Archaeological Conservation Student Placement Archaeological Conservation and Technology Team Student Placement Opportunity English Heritage Fort Cumberland, Portsmouth, UK UKP14,045 per annum English Heritage protects and provides advice on this country's unique legacy of historic buildings, landscapes and archaeological sites. We also manage over 400 sites and welcome in excess of 11 million visitors to these each year. The English Heritage Archaeological Conservation and Technology Team at Fort Cumberland, Portsmouth is offering one six-month placement in Archaeological Conservation from September/October 2010. The Archaeological Conservation and Technology Team provide a holistic approach to the study of artefacts and associated residues, from creation, through use, modification, burial and recovery and subsequent investigative analysis. The student will have the opportunity to contribute to or carry out a number of projects including all phases of work, from initial examination to the preparation of final reports. This placement offers a training opportunity for an undergraduate or recent postgraduate of archaeological conservation with an interest in British archaeology and pursuing a career in archaeological conservation. The overall purpose of the professional activity is to provide an individual with the opportunity to obtain practical experience of investigative conservation within a working environment.
