Please join us as we learn about color theory, mixing colors and
color matching for book repair with bookbinder and painter Julia L.
Rabin. In this class you will learn how to paint book cloth, paper
and tissue for repairs, and how different paints and techniques
offer lasting archival solutions to your book conservation practice.
We will cover an overview of color theory, mix colors, and build
with layers of color to create desired effects. There will be ample
time for practice and you will have samples to take home.

Julia L. Rabin holds a degree from the University of Massachusetts
and the London City and Guilds' Advanced Craft Certificate in
Decorative painting and conservation. After operating an
architectural paint conservation business and teaching decorative
painting for 12 years, Julia decided to change direction. Since
2000, Julia has focused exclusively on book binding with Peter
Geraty at the Praxis Bindery.

This 2-day workshop will be held at Judith Ivry's Bindery at 25 East
4th Street, 5th floor, in Manhattan, between Bowery and Lafayette
(#6 train to Astor Place, the R or W to 8th Street-NYU, or the B, D,
F, V to Broadway-Lafayette).
