Heritage and Conservation Master Class Workshops 2010
Professional Master Class Workshops

Crick Smith Conservation and the University of Lincoln will be
hosting a series of four free one day workshops aimed at a range of
individuals, employers and professionals interested in the heritage
sector.

Introduction to Gilding Techniques
Chad Varah House, Lincoln LN1 3BP

9.30am - 3pm

    A practical workshop providing an introduction to traditional
    gilding techniques: including an overview of gilding techniques;
    how to prepare an object for gilding; handling materials;
    gilding tools; applying the leaf; toning and distressing and
    aftercare of gilded objects.

Conservation and Restoration: An Introduction to the Care of
Historic Collections
Chad Varah House, Lincoln LN1 3BP
Friday 9 April, 2010
9.30am - 3pm

    Aimed at individuals involved in the care of historic objects
    and collections, this practical workshop will examine:
    environmental monitoring; preventive conservation; pest
    management; safe moving and handling; storage and display and
    condition surveys.

Managing the Redevelopment of Historic Interiors: On-site
Conservation Awareness.
Brodsworth Hall, Brodsworth, Doncaster DN5 7XJ
Monday 19 April 2010
9.30am - 3pm

    Aimed at those redeveloping historic properties and interiors,
    this workshop includes how to identify and best protect a range
    of historic features, how to develop a simple training plan for
    site workers to protect the existing fabric during redevelopment
    and how to work with specialist conservation contractors.

3D Digital Conservation for Conservators

9.30am - 3pm

    This workshop would be of interest to curators and conservators
    wanting to learn about the latest techniques for digital
    reconstruction and fabrication of historic objects. It includes
    an overview of 3D laser scanning, modeling in CAD and using
    rapid prototyping to reproduce historic artifacts.

Venue: Each workshop is delivered in either the heart of the
historic city of Lincoln or Brodsworth Hall. Full details and
parking arrangements will be given once you have registered.

Course fee: On this occasion only, each course will be free.
