Conservator The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) The National Archives and Records Administration is seeking to fill a GS-13 Conservator position in the Office of Records Services - Washington, DC, Preservation Programs, Document Conservation Division located in College Park, MD. This is a permanent, fulltime position. Applications will be accepted from US Citizens, from current and former competitive service Federal employees, and people eligible under special hiring authorities. The incumbent will develop and apply innovative methods and approaches for conducting preservation education, including lectures, Powerpoints, and online media. Incumbent will research and develop curricula, prepare them for dissemination, and update trainings as content evolves. Intended audiences for trainings include NARA staff, volunteers, staff of other government agencies, and others. Trainings will focus on a wide range of topics including holdings maintenance and collections care, preservation risk assessment, emergency preparedness and response, and care and handling of records. In addition, the incumbent will coordinate and implement preventive conservation activities in such areas as environmental control, emergency planning and response, and integrated pest management. The incumbent will work in a stimulating environment with other creative professionals to meet the preservation challenges posed by a diverse and compelling body of records in all formats that document the history of the US Federal Government from its founding to the present day.
