Questionnaire on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Strategies in
Museums and Archives By Pascal Querner(1,2), Birgit Kantzenbach(2),
Michaela Morelli(3), Valentina Ljubic(4)

    (1) Rathgen-Forschungslabor
Staatliche Museen zu Berlin Stiftung Preussischer Kulturbesitz
    Schlossstrasse 1 a
    14059 Berlin
    Germany

    (2) Ethnologisches Museum
Staatliche Museen zu Berlin Stiftung Preussischer Kulturbesitz
    Arnimallee 27
    14195 Berlin
    Germany

    (3) Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna
    Maria Theresien-Platz 1010
    Vienna
    Austria

    (4) Technical Museum Vienna
    Mariahilfer Strasse 212
    1140 Vienna
    Austria

Aim: The aim of this questionnaire is to evaluate the implication of
IPM strategies 20 years after they were first introduced in museums.
We want to compare pest problems between museum and collection
types, size and age, the distribution of pest species and the
strategies applied against them. We are especially interested in the
frequency of different insect pest species, their distribution, the
treatment methods used and implication of IPM concepts. We also want
to make a list of objects and materials and their potential pests
(which we will share with you after the evaluation of the
questionnaire; for example Biscuit beetle infestation on painting
canvas).

If the available space is not sufficient please use other pages for
your answers or comments. We also respect if you don't want to
mention the name of the museum or collection.

If your museum consists of more than one collection or building
please fill out the questionnaire for each collection and building
separately.

This survey is carried out in cooperation of the Rathgen Research
Laboratory and the Ethnological Museum with the National Museums
Berlin, the Art Historical Museum and the Technical Museum Vienna.

Please return the completed questionnaire via email, fax or by mail
