Conservator Tate Britain, Millbank, Central London Salary: UKP27,150p.a + benefits An exciting two-year Conservator position has arisen within Tate Archive, generously funded by The Rootstein Hopkins Foundation (RHF). The successful post holder will devise and implement a preservation strategy for the long term storage and digitisation of the internationally renowned Audio Arts magazine housed in Tate Archive. They will also have joint responsibility, working alongside the Archive Cataloguer (RHF) for organising a Sound Art conference and a publication on Audio Arts. You will hold a recognised qualification in conservation or preservation with proven experience of working with audio-visual materials. You will need to work independently in assessing, conserving and digitising a wide variety of audio-visual formats (especially reel-to-reel tapes, cassettes, CDs, DATs and other time-based media). Experience of devising a systematic preservation programme for such work would be highly beneficial. You will be joining a small, enthusiastic and friendly team of qualified archivists, and be expected to carry out other activities in the Reading Rooms as directed. You will therefore have good communication and interpersonal skills. Experience of delivering excellent customer service would be beneficial. In addition, excellent organisation, project management and IT skills are essential for this role. You will also have the opportunity to liaise with colleagues in Tate's Time-Based Media Conservation Section.
