Preservation Services Laboratory Manager Temporary position (18 months) National Library of Australia Expressions of Interest are sought for the temporary position 18 months) of Preservation Services Laboratory Manager at the National Library of Australia Non-Ongoing, full-time Dates of vacancy: 1 March 2010 - 30 November 2011 Classification: APS6 Salary: $AUD76,178 per annum Job Description:: The Preservation Services section at the National Library of Australia provides high-level conservation expertise to deliver targeted and prioritised conservation treatment programs and collection maintenance programs for the Library's collections. The activities of the section include preparation of items for exhibition, conservation of high priority collections, hand bookbinding services, providing training to staff in care and handling of collections, managing collection disaster response, environmental monitoring of storage areas, purchase and supply of rehousing materials to collection areas, advice and support to Special Collection areas. The Section consists of five Paper Conservators, two Bookbinders and several other contract and volunteer staff. The manager of this busy section is required to manage the workflows of the section to ensure the Library is delivering appropriate collection preservation activities to Library programs, and plan future preservation activities.
