Stichting Restauratie Atelier Limburg (SRAL)
Maastricht,
The Netherlands

SRAL is urgently seeking applications for a six-month internship in
the conservation of historic interiors. The internship is project
based and will primarily involve practical aspects on wall
paintings. Candidates must have recently completed a recognised
training programme majoring in the conservation of wall paintings
preferably in combination with architectural paint research.
Candidates must show a marked interest in the architectural setting
of our painted past and be aware of the interior as a iconographic
and technical unity.

The candidate will work closely with conservator Angelique
Friedrichs as part of a larger team. Interns are paid a monthly
stipend of Euro 600 (Euros). Non-EU nationals may apply but must be
in possession of relevant visa and working permits before commencing
the Internship.

About SRAL: The Stichting Restauratie Atelier Limburg (SRAL) is one
of the main conservation studio's in the Netherlands working for
public collections within the province of Limburg as well as on a
national and international level. Currently SRAL consists of six
conservation departments, Paintings, Sculpture, Paper, Historic
Interiors, Textile and Modern Art, and is a recognised teaching
institute. The Institute is staffed with a dynamic team of
international conservators and provides around ten internship
placements per year for recently graduated conservators. The
conservation studios are housed in a spacious and recently
refurbished historic industrial building which also contains a
laboratory, photo studio and analytical research facilities.
Conservation projects are carried out on traditional paintings,
modern works of art, and large projects such as monumental historic
interiors both in the studios and 'on-site'. Staff conservators are
encouraged to carry out research projects using the facilities
available and the Institute is committed to the personal and
professional development of its staff.

SRAL closely collaborates with the newly established University of
Amsterdam (UvA) five year programme in Conservation-Restoration of
Cultural Heritage. Around ten postgraduate students from three
disciplines, Easel Paintings, Historic Interiors and Modern and
Contemporary Art, are hosted for a twelve month period in the SRAL
studios.
