Dyes used in Egyptian paper

I am particularly interested in the dyes that have been
traditionally used to colour paper made in Egypt and the possibility
that they might have been selected for their insecticidal/fungicidal
properties as well as their ability to impart colour.' If anyone has
an interest in this area or could suggest collections or manuscripts
that might support the research it would be greatly appreciated.
