Call for Papers "Preserving the past, Protecting the Future: the conservation of fine and decorative arts" The Gateway Bucks New University High Wycombe HP11 2JZ Tuesday-Thursday 22-24 June, 2010 We are now accepting abstracts for papers for the forthcoming conference within the areas of, Theme A: Private and public collecting in the fine and decorative arts Theme B: New and innovative conservation treatments Theme C: Evolving histories of the fine and decorative arts Theme D: Cultures of collecting/consumption within the fine and decorative arts Theme E: Modern materials/techniques of fine and decorative art production The fine and decorative arts in this context refer to paintings, ceramics and furniture. We would like to hear from artists, curators, conservators, designers, historians and manufacturers engaged in these fields. This event will integrate a subject range across both academic and leisure interests, as we have established that there is a significant demand for this type of event. Contributors will therefore have a range of backgrounds, from universities, professional bodies, museums, auction houses and those with historic and heritage interests. A major aim of this conference is to provide a collective forum for archivists, conservators, private and public collectors, historians along with enthusiasts with a strong interest in the fine and decorative arts, where issues can be raised, articulated and discussed through presentation with opportunity for questions/discussion as well as informal comment within the more social spaces of the conference. Finally we are keen to present papers with an international perspective to give a global representation to the conference.
