Call for Papers

"Preserving the past, Protecting the Future: the conservation of
    fine and decorative arts"
The Gateway
Bucks New University
High Wycombe HP11 2JZ
Tuesday-Thursday 22-24 June, 2010

We are now accepting abstracts for papers for the forthcoming
conference within the areas of,

Theme A: Private and public collecting in the fine and
    decorative arts

Theme B: New and innovative conservation treatments

Theme C: Evolving histories of the fine and decorative arts

Theme D: Cultures of collecting/consumption within the fine and
    decorative arts

Theme E: Modern materials/techniques of fine and decorative art
    production

The fine and decorative arts in this context refer to paintings,
ceramics and furniture. We would like to hear from artists,
curators, conservators, designers, historians and manufacturers
engaged in these fields.

This event will integrate a subject range across both academic and
leisure interests, as we have established that there is a
significant demand for this type of event. Contributors will
therefore have a range of backgrounds, from universities,
professional bodies, museums, auction houses and those with historic
and heritage interests.

A major aim of this conference is to provide a collective forum for
archivists, conservators, private and public collectors, historians
along with enthusiasts with a strong interest in the fine and
decorative arts, where issues can be raised, articulated and
discussed through presentation with opportunity for
questions/discussion as well as informal comment within the more
social spaces of the conference. Finally we are keen to present
papers with an international perspective to give a global
representation to the conference.

If you would like to informally discuss your proposed abstract then
please email Prof. Jake Kaner <jake.kaner<-at->bucks<.>ac<.>uk> or Sharon
Grover <sharon.grover<-at->bucks<.>ac<.>uk> or Tom Harrison +44 1494 601620

Please submit abstract (150-250 words) to jake.kaner<-at->bucks<.>ac<.>uk
before Feb 19, 2010.

The deadline for full papers to be submitted is May 21, 2010.
