Gilt lead statues

Does anyone have experience with assessment and treatment of gilt
lead statuary?  We have a pair of 18th C gilt-lead statues by
Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne the Younger 1704-1778 that have been requested
for loan that I would like to discuss regarding open seams and
detached iron armature.
