Auckland Museum

Auckland War Memorial Museum is seeking to appoint a permanent
full-time Conservator with a specialty in metals.  The Museum holds
a large and unique collection of both natural and human history
objects.  Metal objects are located primarily in the Archaeology,
Military, Social History, Applied Arts and Ethnographic collections.

Conservators sit within the Collection Management section of the
Museum and report to the Conservation Project Leader. Collection
Management is responsible for the expert care and documentation of
our collection and the emphasis is working as a team to realize
projects.

The successful applicant will:

    Have an MA degree or equivalent experience in conservation

    Have practical experience treating metal objects

    Be able to advise and collaborate with other Conservators

    Be able and willing to work outside their specialty area

    Contribute expertise to projects

    Be able to prioritise and work independently

    Have excellent interpersonal and time management skills

The successful applicants will have the ability to work effectively
as part of a team, neat and tidy habits, good written and oral
communication, and a practical approach.
