UV light for microscope

We have an Olympus microscope BX-51-TRF and have bought all the
attachments to examine paint cross sections with UV light. However,
the visible fluorescence we get from regular samples is very faint
and we are not sure whether we might have the wrong filters.

Together with the UV mercury lamp we have added two different
filters: one UV/ Blue and the other Blue/Green. The specific
wavelengths of the filters we have are the following:

Filter U-MWUS3 (UV/Blue): excitation wavelength between 330 and
385 nm (UV) and emission wavelength from 420 nm (visible)
    onwards

    Filter U-MWBS3 (Blue/Green): excitation wavelength between 450
and 480 nm (blue) and emission wavelength from 515 nm (green)
    onwards

Does anybody know if these filters are appropriate to examine paint
cross sections with UV light? Could we be experiencing some other
sort of problem?
