Subject: Magnets for exhibition mounting

I would not recommend mounting paper objects directly with very strong magnets--they can cause dents in the paper. If you are planning to use magnets directly on paper, choose the weakest magnet that will still do the job and hold the object securely in place. Test first by mounting a similar piece of paper with various magnets for an extended period of time. Magnets placed directly on anything with a coated or shiny surface (eg. photographs) can scratch on removal. Better to encapsulate the object in mylar and place magnets only on the mylar borders.
