The Art Gallery of New South Wales is seeking to fill a full time
permanent Head of Conservation vacancy.

Role: Accountable for the preservation of Gallery's collection
and responsible for the management of the Art Gallery's
Conservation Department by providing overall vision, direction and
leadership to the team.

Salary package: Valued at up to $121,506 p.a. (salary $95,253 -
$110,160). employer's contribution to superannuation and annual
leave loading.

Selection criteria:

Extensive experience in the leadership of a Conservation Department
within a museum environment. Demonstrated ability to effectively
lead, motivate and supervise staff and allocate and manage financial
resources and budgets to achieve organisational goals.Tertiary
qualifications in conservation with significant professional
practice experience; membership of a professional conservation body
and a proven track record in at least one area of
specialisation.Thorough knowledge of current techniques and recent
research in conservation with an ability to apply conservation
principles.Demonstrated ability to initiate, research, develop and
implement policies relating to conservation and collections
management practices within a gallery environment. Experience in the
organisation, development, administration and presentation of
complex conservation projects.High-level communication and
interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with a
wide group of people including key stakeholders, artists, donors,
the public and both national and international lenders.
