The American Museum of Natural History

6 month, term position

The American Museum of Natural History is seeking an Associate
Conservator for a 6 month contract.  This position reports to the
Director of Conservation, Natural Science Collections and works
closely with collections staff, registrars, exhibition preparators
and designers in ensuring the safe exhibit and travel of specimens.
The position is responsible for the conservation of skeletal and
fossil specimens to be displayed in the upcoming exhibit 'Extreme
Mammals'. This includes treatment, documentation (both digital and
written), overseeing exhibits staff accomplishing minor treatments
of specimens and overseeing mount-making and packing.

Requirements:

M.A./M.S. in art conservation, or equivalent plus a minimum of 3-5
years conservation experience.  Experience with natural science
materials preferred.  Proficiency with digital photography and Excel
required.  General project management experience is a plus.

Salary commensurate with experience.  Full benefits package.
