Conservator, Painting and Sculpture Glenbow Museum Reporting to the Manager of Collections, and working in accordance with the Glenbow Museum Conservation Policy, this position is responsible for the preventative care and conservation of paintings and sculpture in storage, on exhibition and on loan. Provides training, advice and assistance to other staff as well as advice to the public regarding the conservation of artifacts including paintings, sculpture, decorative art and objects. This position also assists the Objects Conservator, in the conservation of objects for exhibition and loan. Specific accountabilities are: examines artifacts for suitability for exhibition and loan; determines treatment needs and carries out conservation treatments on artifacts; completes and maintains conservation records database. The role also includes photo documentation and research for the examination and treatment of collection artifacts. Shares responsibility with other Conservators for environmental monitoring, assists in developing, administering and monitoring conservation budget and develops and documents conservation-related procedures. Qualifications include: Masters degree in Art Conservation (Paintings) or equivalent, 4-5 years experience in paintings conservation, preferably with experience in the conservation of sculpture and objects, WHMIS training, experience in photography and digital image documentation, Accreditation in the Canadian Association of Professional Conservators (CAPC).
