I would recommend Katharine Whitman's final report for the Advanced
Residency Program in Photograph Conservation, titled "History and
Conservation of Glass Supported Photographs", available in PDF:

Katharine addresses most of the issues regarding conservation of
these objects and presents many case studies you may find useful.
