Professorship, Polychrome Wooden Objects/Easel Paintings Tainan National University of the Arts, Taiwan Graduate Institute of Conservation Start date: Until position filled The Graduate Institute of Conservation at the Tainan National University of the Arts <URL:http://www.tnnua.edu.tw> seeks applications for an Assistant Professor to direct the Department of Polychrome Wooden Objects/Easel Paintings, to teach graduate art conservation courses, and undergraduate courses as needed, assist in teaching preventive conservation and to enhance and promote public outreach, diversity, and other collaborative initiatives within the department and profession. Minimum qualifications: A Master's degree or professional degree in conservation Nine (9) years of verifiable conservation experience beyond the degree Demonstrated knowledge of: the technology, materials and equipment used in conservation; experience in preventive conservation Ability to examine and determine the condition and conservation needs of works of art and the preventative and corrective treatment of art objects; the environmental and handling requirements of art objects Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences and to work collaboratively with allied professionals. A demonstrated commitment to public outreach Knowledge of the Chinese language (Mandarin) is beneficial but not a requirement The Graduate Institute of Conservation at the Tainan National University of the Arts offers a 3-year graduate program leading to a Master of Art degree in Art Conservation. Our faculty includes the Departments of Conservation of polychrome wooden objects and easel paintings, paper-based works of art, Asian paintings and a Conservation-Management program. The Tainan National University of the Arts is located in Southern Taiwan outside of Tainan City.
