Glue gun hot melt adhesives

Does anyone know of any analytical studies performed on the typical
chemical components found in hot glue sticks used with hot glue guns
commonly found in hardware stores and craft supply stores?  Are
these thermoplastic wax-resin mixtures and do they contain acidic or
corrosive components?
