We are delighted to announce a joint meeting with Tabitha Teuma and
Sophia Plender. Tabitha will present her findings following the
recent conservation treatment of an early Tudor panel painting
belonging to the Royal Collection, entitled 'Family of Henry VII
with St George and the Dragon', which as well as providing
additional insight into early 16th century painting techniques,
serve as clues to the painting's provenance, the reasons behind it's
commission and how it relates to other paintings from the period.

The second part of this meeting will focus on the project "Making
Art in Tudor Britain", a scientific survey of the early collections
at the National Portrait Gallery. This project aims to transform
understanding of early painting practice and the production of
portraits in the Tudor and Jacobean period and will involve a
detailed survey of over 80 of the most important portraits from the
Gallery's Collection in the period 1500-1620. Sophia Plender, who is
the senior project conservator, will talk about this project and
what it hopes to achieve.

Cost:
    Free to BAPCR members
    UKP5 for non-members
    UKP4 concessions (students, ICON members)
