Principal Conservator Conservation, Deputy Head of Department Oxford University Library Services Salary: UKP40,334 - UKP46,759 The OULS Conservation and Collection Care (CCC) department is undergoing a period of development and improvement (including the planning for and implementation of modern, purpose built laboratories) and is seeking an experienced conservation manager to help facilitate this change. Excellent people skills and diplomacy, attention to detail, experience of accurate financial planning and monitoring, and the ability to lead a team are all essential qualities in this demanding role, as is a high level of knowledge of conservation processes within libraries. The post reports directly to the Head of CCC and includes deputising in the absence of the Head of department. The post-holder will be responsible for the following: * directing and managing conservation, interventive and preventive projects undertaken by teams of Conservators, Assistant Conservators, Conservation Technicians and other library staff as appropriate; * managing and co-ordinating Conservators in the planning of conservation projects and scheduling of staff involved; * planning and developing training and teaching programmes for conservation staff, interns and other library service staff * co-ordinating the CCC's annual staff development review programme * undertaking line management functions for Conservators, Assistant Conservators and Technicians The post-holder will be a member of the Bodleian central site fire and emergency response team.
