Fire suppression systems

The Queen's College, University Of Oxford, UK, is planning the
construction of a new library extension to house circulating library
material and to provide a secure store and reading room for rare
books/archives.

We are currently considering the benefits of different fire
suppression systems in this new underground space which will include
areas for undergraduate readers with 24/7 access, library and
archive staff, and invigilated readers of special collections
material.

We would be grateful for any comments on water-mist versus gas
suppression systems, particularly in the context of an underground
building and secure store for rare material on compact shelving.
