Scratches on anodized aluminium

The Art Gallery of Western Australia is considering acquiring an
anodized aluminium object that has some fairly disfiguring scratches
to the anodized surface.  The oxide layer has a dull grey appearance
and has not been dyed.  Has anyone had any experience with methods
to disguise damage such as this?
