The American Research Centre in Egypt (ARCE)
<URL:http://www.arce.org> seeks a qualified Laboratory Manager with
experience in the field of antiquities conservation for a
training-related position in Luxor, Egypt.

This candidate will have experience with conservation laboratory
management and will apply effective organizational standards to
protect the laboratory equipment and ensure the laboratory is
properly maintained for its users. This candidate will be the
lead-manager of the laboratory building and will oversee laboratory
operation in cooperation with the Egyptian staff and other
expatriate professionals. Candidate should have good interpersonal,
organizational, computer and communication, skills. Applicants
should have several years of experience in a research and
educational environment. Duties in the position will include:

    *   Responsibility for management and direction of laboratory
        staff to ensure the laboratory remains in good physical
        condition to support the laboratory operations.

    *   Provide advice and technical expertise related to laboratory
        analysis procedures.

    *   Assist design and presentation of instructional laboratory
        lessons.

    *   Supervision and oversight of facility support staff and
        ensure Health and Safety practices.

    *   Control inventory of lab supplies, tools, and equipment in
        the laboratory building and placement of orders for new
        supplies and equipment.

    *   Scheduling use of the lab by SCA and foreign mission
        conservators

    *   Monitoring and overseeing the inventory of antiquities in
        the storage facility and undergoing conservation treatment
        in the lab

    *   Submittal of routine periodic reports documenting lab
        activities the number of users of the lab, special events,
        and physical plant condition and consumption, and the types
        of work completed in the reporting period.

Employment Terms: The position term is flexible and may be between
eight months and two years depending upon the availability of the
candidate. Expatriate candidates for the Facility Manager Position
will receive a salary based upon a combination of their salary
history and the proposed responsibilities. The position includes a
five-day work week and accommodation in Luxor, Egypt. Interested
