Project Supervisor Conservation Technician Project Conservator (2 positions) Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew Marianne North Gallery We have an exciting opportunity in our newly built Art Conservation Studio for a range of enthusiastic and motivated individuals to work on the conservation of the artwork from our world-renowned Marianne North Gallery. The Gallery, situated within the gardens, houses 830 oil paintings on paper which were painted by Marianne North during the second half of the nineteenth century. Conservation of the artworks is to take place whilst the gallery is restored and is supported by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Project Supervisor: from UKP23,580 pa Ref: 1216 Working with the Senior Conservator, you will be Supervision of the MNG Art Conservation Studio and its staff. As well as undertaking the documentation and conservation of the oil on paper artwork from the gallery, you will also oversee the work of the two Project Conservators and Conservation Technician. You will assist in promoting the gallery and its restoration project through demonstrations and talks to interested parties and stakeholders. You will have a graduate qualification, or equivalent experience, in paper conservation, preferably with a specialism in oil on paper. Project Conservator: 2 Posts from UKP20,972 pa. Ref: 1214/1215 Working with the Project Supervisor, you will be responsible for the documentation and conservation of the oil on paper artwork from the gallery. You will also assist in promoting the gallery and its restoration project through demonstrations and talks to interested parties and stakeholders. You will have a graduate qualification, or equivalent experience, in paper conservation, preferably with a specialism in oil on paper. Conservation Technician: One Post from UKP16,760 pa. Ref: 1217 Working with the Project Supervisor and Project Conservators, you will provide essential technical support and backup. You will maintain and oversee the functioning of the Marianne North Project Studio. This position is ideal for a person considering a career in conservation. No formal conservation qualification is necessary however experience within an art or aligned field would be an advantage. Training will be given. These posts report to RBG Kew's Senior Conservator and will be for a period of 24 months.
