Conservation Centre Vejle

Conservation Centre Vejle in Denmark is seeking a conservator
specialized in Objects/Archaeological conservation for a newly
created permanent position.

We are seeking a candidate with a Bachelor of Science or Master of
Science in Conservation or equivalent education or training.

Conservation Centre Vejle works primarily with cultural history
museums in the region. In addition, the department works with
churches, commercial and private clients and also undertakes
requested research projects. The tasks will be diverse and will
include the treatment of archaeological finds and more recent
cultural material.  You will also participate in our collections
management work with the museums under our care.

In addition to the newly created position, the
Objects/Archaeological department employs 2 permanent staff
positions trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Art, The
School of Conservation and often takes on short-term project staff
and interns.

We value autonomy, good interpersonal skills and an ability to take
on responsibility. We expect that you have the desire and ability to
develop conservation techniques and improve the quality of care for
the museums for which we are responsible.

Work mostly takes place at the Conservation Centre but staff also
works regularly off-site for short periods in museums with requested
tasks.

The post is to be filled by September 15, 2008 or by agreement. The
working hours are 37 hours per week. If the candidate does not speak
one of the Scandinavian languages, a working knowledge of English or
German is required. Salaries and conditions of employment by
agreement. Ten working days per year are allocated for
training/conferences, networking, subject study and the like.

Conservation Centre Vejle and the Shared Storage Facility were
purpose built in 2004. These are two independent institutions, which
share the same site. The Conservation Centre operates the shared
storage facility. Together, the two institutions form the Centre for
Preservation of Cultural Heritage. See more at
