Icon Paintings Group Managing the practical and aesthetic work of a frame Gerry Alabone, Head of Frames Conservation at Tate Icon Offices, 1 London Bridge, SE1 9BG Thursday, 26 June 2008, doors open at 6pm Attendees must register with Charlotte Cowin <ccowin<-a t->icon< . >org< . >uk> to gain entry. What are our intentions with managing changes to appearance, function and context of a frame? This talk will consider how our understanding of the story between painting, frame and setting are important aids for appreciating paintings. Since paintings conservators may often be asked to comment on the suitability of a frame for a particular painting, as well as its potential for conservation, it is hoped the talk will be of assistance in discussions between paintings and frames conservators, curators and clients. Tickets: Icon members UKP5, non-members UKP10 payment on the door (exact money please) or by cheque made payable to Institute of Conservation *** Conservation DistList Instance 22:1 Distributed: Sunday, June 22, 2008 Message Id: cdl-22-1-008 ***Received on Monday, 16 June, 2008
