American Museum of Natural History

The American Museum of Natural History, Traveling Exhibition Program
is seeking a qualified individual to act as a contract
Conservator/Preparator for their traveling exhibition Dinosaurs:
Ancient Fossils, New Discoveries. The qualified person must be able
and willing to travel domestically to three venues, for one to two
weeks each, from August 2008 - August 2009. This person will work
along side an AMNH Traveling Exhibitions Registrar to install,
de-install, condition report, and repair exhibition specimens as
needed.

Qualifications:

Required:

    5 years experience working with museum collections

    Knowledge of object conservation and handling

    Experience in the repair of fossils and knowledge of appropriate
    materials used in such repairs

    Ability to lift 50lbs

    Attention to detail and ability to perform under tight deadlines

    Willingness to work as part of a team

    Quick learner

    BA in Bio Sciences, Earth Sciences, Museum Studies, or related
    field

Desirable:

    Knowledge of vertebrate anatomy

    Experience of working with paleontological collections

 Experience of fossil preparation
