Assistant Objects Conservator Museum of Fine Arts, Boston The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston seeks a full-time Assistant Objects Conservator for a one-year, term appointment in the Department of Conservation and Collections Management, for a major reinstallation of Egyptian and Classical antiquities. The Division of Objects Conservation is responsible for the preservation, examination and treatment of three-dimensional objects and sculpture in this encyclopedic collection which spans the history of western and non-western art, ranging from archaeological material to contemporary art. The Assistant Conservator will work primarily on sculpture, architectural elements and objects from ancient Egypt and the classical world for the reinstallation of galleries related to the ongoing renovation and expansion of the Museum. Applicants must have a Master's degree (M.A. or M.S.) from a recognized graduate conservation training program specializing in objects conservation. A minimum of two years of post-training experience is required; previous experience working with antiquities and ancient architecture is highly desirable. The Assistant Conservator may be asked to carry out research in support of treatments, and to perform tasks related to conservation activities in the objects laboratory. The Assistant Conservator must be able to develop and implement treatments independently, as well as work as part of a team including collections care personnel, engineers and facilities staff for treatment, transport of objects and mount making for gallery installation. Excellent interpersonal and writing skills are required, as are experience with digital photography, Microsoft Word, Excel and Adobe Photoshop. All work shall be performed in accordance with the Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Practice of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works.
