Internship in Conservation The heritage Council of Ireland and Trinity College Library, Dublin, The Heritage Council of Ireland, in partnership with Trinity College Library, is seeking to appoint an intern in conservation for the forthcoming academic year (September / October 2008 - July / August 2009). The internship is part of the Heritage Council's commitment to the promotion of best practice for conservation across Ireland. The internship will focus primarily on the conservation of bound and unbound parchment items from the manuscripts collection of Trinity College Library, and will be undertaken in the Preservation and Conservation Department of the Library <URL:http://www.tcd.ie/Library/Preservation>. Projects will be selected to provide a range of treatment options, including the application of new emerging approaches to parchment conservation. There will also be opportunities for the intern to contribute to the broad range of conservation and preservation projects currently underway in the department. Candidates should be recent graduates of a recognised conservation training programme (or have equivalent experience). The applicant should be able to work with a degree of independence. The internship will be subject to normal schedules of payments, probationary period and leave agreements. The internship is for a period of twelve months and will be funded at a rate of Euro30,000 (subject to PRSI and PAYE).
