David Cox

I am currently working on an oil painting by the English painter
David Cox (1793-1859). It appears to be on paper, which has been
stuck onto a larger wooden panel, apparently at a later date. I have
taken an x-ray, which indicates that the original paper support has
been prepared with a ground layer containing lead white. I am
interested to know if any research has been carried out into Cox's
oil painting techniques.
