US/ICOMOS seeks
Wood Specialist(s) for possible
heritage conservation mission to the Caribbean

US/ICOMOS is trying to identify a conservation specialist with broad
and varied experience in preserving vernacular wooden structures in
hot and humid climates who would be willing to participate in a
technical assistance cooperative mission to the Caribbean to lead a
workshop or series of workshops in conjunction with local heritage
authorities, local craftsmen and preservation NGOs in towns that are
grappling with the management of large inventories of vernacular
wooden buildings intended to remain in their current residential and
commercial use, in communities with limited financial resources. The
workshop(s) will provide a special focus on mechanisms and
techniques needed to develop a more solid skilled local craftsman
foundation through additional training, if needed.

US citizenship is required. An understanding of, or some fluency in
spoken Spanish is a plus, but not a requirement.

Selected expert(s) will receive a modest honorarium and per diem.
All travel and lodging expenses will be paid. The duration of the
mission will range from one to three weeks, depending on expert's
availability.

Anyone meeting these qualification and willing to participate in
this international technical assistance mission, send your CV to
