Celotex brand "Hot Plate Pads": This natural fiber-based tile
material, 6 inches x 6 inches x about 1/2 inch thick, is found on
some of the interior walls of the Fogg Art Museum, and there is some
indication it may have been incorporated in artworks or
restorations. the back is labeled Celotex brand "Hot Plate Pads".

Is there

Any record of its use by artists or restorers?
Any knowledge of its more exact composition
Any knowledge of asbestos content, as was true of some mineral
products of the now defunct company?
