Natural History Summer Conservation Project
Alaska State Museum

The Alaska State Museum has an opportunity for a student to assist
with the survey of its small natural history collection. The
collection includes taxidermy, shells, bones, minerals and herbarium
specimens. The project will include arsenic testing, re-housing,
specimen stabilization and minor treatment, photographic and
database documentation, and a range of preventive conservation
issues.

Applicant must be available for at least 8 weeks, including the last
two weeks of June. Conservator and natural history specialist
Catharine Hawks will be consulting with ASM staff for several days
during that time. $800 is available to help offset expenses.
Graduate conservation students preferred. Contact
