Natural History Summer Conservation Project Alaska State Museum The Alaska State Museum has an opportunity for a student to assist with the survey of its small natural history collection. The collection includes taxidermy, shells, bones, minerals and herbarium specimens. The project will include arsenic testing, re-housing, specimen stabilization and minor treatment, photographic and database documentation, and a range of preventive conservation issues. Applicant must be available for at least 8 weeks, including the last two weeks of June. Conservator and natural history specialist Catharine Hawks will be consulting with ASM staff for several days during that time. $800 is available to help offset expenses. Graduate conservation students preferred.
