Subject: Materials for crates
I recently came across a new plywood material that we are looking at to build crates for National and International travel of art work and three dimensional objects. It is an MDO (medium Density overlay made by Plum Creek Northwest Plywood Inc. <URL:http://plumcreek.com>. The product is made by covering one or both sides of softwood plywood with paper which contains Phenol formaldehyde resins 1.0-8.0%) and adhesives. The free formaldehyde threshold limit value is < 0.1ppm. It is a fine looking product that finishes very nice. I am concerned about the formaldehyde resins. Can anyone give me some information on acceptable levels or of other products used in crate building?
