A paintings conservator is sought for the newly endowed Paintings

The Ford Center is a division of the Nebraska State Historical
Society <URL:http://www.nebraskahistory.org> and is housed within a
state-of-the-art regional conservation facility in Omaha, Nebraska.
This position represents a unique opportunity for a dynamic,
self-motivated conservator to initiate programs and develop this
laboratory in the direction of his/her interest.

The Ford Center facilities are found within an award winning brick,
limestone, and slate building specifically designed as a
conservation facility. The Center is adjacent to the Ford Birth

Museum and the historic Old Market area. The Paintings Conservation
Laboratory at the center is over 1,200 square feet in size with a

materials, and equipment found in a well-fitted lab with funds
available for additional items that may be needed. The Ford Center
facility includes a photo studio, a microscopy lab, a world-class
digital imaging lab, as well as other lab and support spaces. The
incumbent will work in the Paintings Lab in the conservation of
objects and collections from the Nebraska State Historical Society,
art museums, art galleries, libraries, local historical societies,
and private and corporate clients throughout the region. The
conservator will be responsible for the Paintings Laboratory,
perform treatments, advise on regional preservation issues, and
participate in conservation and preservation training. The
conservator will advise the Historical Society on all issues
relating to preservation of paper-based collections. The incumbent
will represent the Nebraska State Historical Society and the Ford
Center at national professional meetings. Qualified applicants must
have completed a bachelor's degree and a graduate conservation
