Subject: Workshop on paste paper in conservation
Workshop Paste paper in conservation centro del bel libro ascona 9-13 June 2008 Historical paste paper techniques as needed for adequate infills and bindings have not changed fundamentally since the seventeenth century. A multitude of tools, paints, base papers and starches is used, providing together with the maker's technical skills the almost indefinite diversity of paste paper. This course will help participants to understand the fascinating processes, "read" the originals and produce the required papers. Insights into history, chemistry and surfaces are given. Participants are invited to bring damaged objects and/or their own tools and materials.
