Postdoctoral Fellowship Cotsen Institute of Archaeology The Cotsen Institute of Archaeology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) announces a new 2-year Postdoctoral Fellowship to begin in the Fall Quarter of the 2008-2009 school year. The Fellowship is intended to give promising scholars the opportunity to pursue their own research and at the same time interact with a large and diverse group of faculty, graduate students, and affiliated researchers with a wide range of theoretical and methodological specialties. The Cotsen Institute faculty are primarily from five departments-Anthropology, Art History, Classics, History and Near Eastern Languages and Cultures-with affiliated faculty from a dozen departments on the UCLA campus <URL:http://www.ioa.ucla.edu>. Applicants will be considered from any research area or theoretical orientation within archaeology, including topics beyond those traditionally represented by the five core departments listed above. The successful candidate will be expected to teach one course each Spring Quarter, its subject to be determined on the basis of his or her research interests and departmental needs. Additionally, the candidate will give one lecture each quarter, either to the Institute affiliates or the general public. The total support package is $38,000 for each academic year (term of residence September 1, 2008 to August 31, 2010) plus medical benefits, access to UCLA campus resources, and a travel allowance for one conference airfare and one research-related airfare each year (up to $1500.00/ year).
