The National Trust for Scotland (NTS) is Scotland's leading
conservation charity.  Managing an extensive portfolio of built
heritage sites, from castles and country houses to cottages and
modern museum facilities, the Trust today cares for one of the
largest, most varied and important collections of material culture
in Scotland.

The Trust's recently restructured Collections Conservation Service
seeks to appoint a conservator responsible for delivering preventive
conservation and care to NTS collections displayed and stored within
North-East and Highland properties.   You will be a member of the
Service delivering Collections Conservation across the Trust and
also, from your base at Castle Fraser, part of the
inter-disciplinary support team for these northern properties.   The
central part of your role is to build strong working relationships
with property staff and volunteers and help set and put in place
standards and sound practice of collections care at North-East and
Highland properties.  As a member of the Collections Conservation
Service you also will help develop and deliver areas of specialist
technical expertise Trust-wide.

You will have a recognised qualification in remedial or preventive
conservation and at least 3 years' experience, preferably within an
historic house context.  You must be an enthusiastic and energetic
self-starter with outstanding inter-personal and organisational
skills and an ability to co-ordinate multiple priorities.   You will
also need to have sound IT skills and a driving licence, and be
willing to travel regularly.

The NTS supports PACR and the successful candidate should either be
an accredited conservator or be working towards accredited status.
